Generic outcome questionnaires were not built for athletes. The 4-Domain Sports PROM was born from a systematic review that proved it — and became a unique, validated instrument, applicable to any joint and any level of sports practice.
Presently, PROMs are not tailored for athletes and high-performance sports practitioners. Systematic review, Journal of ISAKOS
In 2021, the 4-Domain Sports PROM was validated and published with a four-pillar structure designed specifically for this population — with a universal approach, regardless of the anatomical site of the injury: knee, shoulder, foot, hip, and others.
The questionnaire records the athlete before the injury, the injury itself, their expectations regarding treatment, and finally the operative outcome — also allowing classification of sports level, main physical demands of the sport practiced, and clinical complaints.
Every answer is anchored to a real moment in the athlete's journey — not to a generic list of symptoms.
Athlete profile, sports practice level, and main physical demands of the sport, recorded as a reference.
Anatomical site, type, time of evolution, and clinical complaints associated with the trauma.
What the athlete expects from treatment — and how that expectation compares to the proposed treatment plan.
Post-operative evolution measured with the same instrument, allowing direct comparison across all four moments.
Built for continuous clinical use and for research — the same data feeds both.
Age, sex, weight, height, BMI, anatomical site, type and time of injury — plus free fields for additional information.
All collected information can be filtered and cross-referenced according to whatever the study requires.
Select data and analyses and save or print as PDF or Excel, ready for a clinical report or a scientific article.
Each language went through its own cross-cultural validation and independent publication — the instrument stays the same, validity is local.
